Reunion being planned for all workers from the Prince Albert Pulp Mill
“Over the years, we had well over thousands of people that worked there, management, unions, all people are invited to this, anyone that worked there,” Walker said, adding that by the same the mill closed in 2006, thousands had been employed at the mill.
“It’s one big reunion, celebration. We’ve never had anything done like this before as a Prince Albert facility.”
The pulp mill went under several names and was owned by several companies over the years. Currently, B.C. based Paper Excellence is hoping to re start the mill.
An official date has not been set for the re-opening. Last fall, Paper Excellence submitted its environmental impact statement to the province.
It’s estimated the pulp mill will provide roughly 1,700 under jobs once it’s operational.
The fall 2023 reunion for workers is still in the planning stages but those interested in attending are asked to provide their details to [email protected]
